Alsino Skowronnek is a Germany-born self-taught painter based in Berlin and Barcelona. He holds degrees in Economics from the London School of Economics and Design and Programming from the University of Applied Sciences, Potsdam. Skowronnek began his artistic journey in graffiti culture over two decades ago, developing a deep engagement with letters, signs, and mark-making that continues to inform his work today. After completing his studies, he built a career in data visualization before transitioning exclusively to painting several years ago. His current practice draws from this diverse background, combining traditional painting techniques with insights from his experience in programming, design, and data analysis. Skowronnek's work explores the evolution of human communication systems, examining connections between contemporary digital technologies, including machine learning, and ancient writing systems. Through his paintings, Skowronnek investigates how we create and interpret meaning through visual symbols across different historical periods and technological contexts. His approach bridges his analytical training with his interest in the fundamental human impulse to make marks and create meaning through visual language. Skowronnek has participated in group and solo exhibitions in Germany, Europe, and the United States. He is represented by Galería MPA, Madrid.
