The Code Week Award is an initiative by the Design Research Lab, Technologiestiftung Berlin and Samsung. It supports organizations that teach kids how to code and further develop their digital skills. Started by Prof. Gesche Joost and the Design Research Lab out of the European Code Week initiative, the project has build up and supported a big network of grass-roots coding initiatives in Germany.
As project manager, I helped starting the program in Germany in its initial stage in 2015. Together with our partners we set up a Germany-wide competition and selection process for the available total funding of € 75.000. Through strategic networking, we developed a strong network of grass-roots and industry partners for this important cause and organized more than 100 workshops in Germany, among others at re:publica and Tech Open Air Berlin.
