About Me.

This is my online portfolio, thanks for swinging by. After a long journey, I have finally figured out what I love doing. Have you?

Alsino Skowronnek

Interface & Information Designer

My name is Alsino Skowronnek and I am a Berlin-based data visualization designer and maker of visual things. A geographer by training in my earlier life, I have worked for different organizations around the world, most often somewhere between spreadsheets, maps and policy. I have worked for the OECD in Paris, as well as for Statista in Hamburg and a few other companies and public bodies in Berlin.

My deep interest in working with data, maps and visual information has somehow lead me towards interface and data design. I am a freelance data visualization designer and I have worked for a wide range of clients amongst others Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Asian Development Bank, WWF, Zeit Online, brand 1, die tageszeitung and Goethe-Institut.

Through my work on different projects, I have formed a strong network of partners in design, code, geo and the media in Berlin and abroad. I am affiliated with the Design Research Lab at the University of the Arts Berlin as well as with the Urban Complexity Lab at the FH Potsdam.

For my work on Airbnb vs. Berlin, I have been nominated for several awards. Amongst others the Designpreis Brandenburg, the Information is Beautiful Award and the Grimme Online Award. No big deal.
